Rhymer's Weave
Rhymer's Weave features the vocals and fiddle playing of Cate Ryan and percussion of Allal (Mad Nomad) Yamine, with myself on guitar and hammered dulcimer. The music explores largely traditional and mediaeval tunes with which the dulcimer has a natural affinity. It was recorded in the Scottish Borders in 2016. Three sample tracks are given below.
La Rotta is a mediaeval Rennaisance Italian tune whose guitar arrangement by John Renbourn is followed here. Lovely Joan is an old English tune that appears in the 1650s Playford tune book and is followed by our take of Eliza Carthey's Blow the Winds. The third set of tunes, Mons Meg and Game of Draughts are also written by Eliza Carthey.
